  Rumour Mill: MacKail-Smith, Keogh, Campbell

Leicester City have put in a 7 figure bid for Peterborough striker Craig MacKail-Smith. There is some competition however for the prolific frontman who scored 26 goals for Posh last season, as Bristol City are rumoured to have also tabled a bid. Mackail-Smith was signed by Peterborough United from Dagenham & Redbridge for £125,000 in 2007.

  N'Guessan completes move

Leicester City have finally secured the signing of French winger Dany N'Guessan from Lincoln City.

The deal had been agreed on the players part for the last 6 weeks but the two clubs had been discussing payments for the player, a fee has now been agreed and Dany signs on a 3 year deal.

An inconsistant but precocious talent according to Lincoln supporters, N'Guessan started out his career in the Auxerre youth team, which a certain Max Gradel was also learning his trade. He moved onto Rangers in 2005, but never went on to an appearance for the first team. A loan to Boston United followed in the 2006/07 season before Lincoln signed him later in the season.

  What Pearson Needs To Do

We’re not even in July yet but the football off-season seems to be dragging its heels. The lack of transfer activity is just making things worse.

Eight have gone, four have arrived – does that mean we can expect at least another four additions to equal it up? Let’s hope so, because at present, the squad looks unprepared for the vigours of Championship football.

  Championship 2009/2010 – Initial Impressions

We’ve heard it before: this year’s Championship will be stronger than ever. It’s a statement often employed in response to the three relegated teams from the Premiership, along with the other three unable to achieve promotion through the play-offs. However, as we’ve seen previously, relegated teams don’t always bounce back and play-off failures don’t always repeat their success. Will this year be any different? While it is too early to say, a lot depends one key thing: stability.

Player Ratings: 2008/09 Season Awards - Part One - Monthly Awards Review

The Player-Ratings.com monthly awards were a bit of a monopoly for defenders until January. Aleksandar Tunchev claimed no less than four out of the first five of these awards with the very first one going to Jack Hobbs. Steve Howard broke this trend following Tunchev's injury with keeper Tony Warner having an impressive March while Lloyd Dyer stole the show during the final month of the season.

It was generally midfielders who failed to impress with Lloyd Dyer claiming four consecutive flop of the month titles from December to March. Max Gradel failed to live up to his early promise with the September and August titles while Paul Dickov, Jack Hobbs and Joe Mattock all claimed one a piece.

The most consistent player went to someone different every month while the most inconsistent was often given to the most impressive player of the month with the really top performances hard to match on a consistent basis.

After solely winning the award for the first four months, Matty Fryatt failed to win an attacker of the month title after Steve Howard's second half of the season form kept him out of the picture.
